Experience in one to one coaching

Carmel has coached numerous Principals as part of the Career Decisions/CDT team who have successfully coached over 400 School Principals. Carmel has first-hand experience of leading a team within a school setting, as a former School Principal, Carmel began her career in teaching in a non-DEIS school and subsequently spent many years in a DEIS Band 1 School. She served on various Boards of Management, becoming familiar from a very early stage of her career with the concerns of School Principals.

With extensive experience in management, leadership and change management, particularly in the field of education coupled with her background in Education & Psychology and profound understanding of the latest research and findings in neuroscience, Carmel has a deep understanding of those working in education at the present time. She has a deep appreciation of both challenges and opportunities faced by leaders. She draws on the wealth and diversity of her experience, skills and values, working with clients to gain better insights into their issues. Carmel has an established reputation for delivering insightful coaching programmes which result in significant behavioural change, growth and development of senior leaders, building sustainable confidence, which is impactful upon the whole school community.

Through NLP empowering techniques, visualisation, dialogic/systemic coaching, performance management and motivational strategies, coachees achieve an awareness of sustainable work-life procedures and develop good habits, leading to a renewed enthusiasm for the role.

Carmel has mentored/coached newly appointed Principals and teachers and currently acts as independent assessor for leadership appointments in primary schools, interviewing staff in the greater Dublin area.

"Engaging with coaching through CSL has been the best decision I made. Carmel was an invaluable support, providing me with a sanctuary to think about the emotion and rationale behind my decisions."
